04 Aug Craft a one page letter to a person or organization of your choosing
Guidelines/Expectations for the writing assignment:
- Craft a one page letter to a person or organization of your choosing (you can write to me, a friend, a family member, another professor, your boss at work, a company or organization you want to share an idea with, etc.)
- This letter should clearly contain all 4 of the elements from the AIDA framework (Attention, Interest, Desire, Action) that is described in Chapter 8 of your textbook and in the recorded lecture for this week – I have also included the detailed slide that shows this framework further down in this week’s folder
- Your letter should be you presenting a persuasive argument/trying to convince or persuade the reader to think differently on a topic
- Formatting guidelines are the same as they were for your Introductory Letter assignment
- Your letter should be one page in length
- 12 point font, single space, standard margins
- Letter should begin with the date aligned in the top left corner (NOT a logo or header of any other kind)
- Following the date should be an address block with the name and address of the person or group you are writing to
- If you don’t know their address it is OK to make something up
- Next is a greeting to begin your letter (Dear Jen, or To Whom It May Concern: are some examples)
- After the greeting is the body of your message where you should be including all four components of the AIDA framework
- Your closing paragraph should be a strong summary of your writing and also include contact information/how to reach you to follow up on the content of the letter.
- End with a closing salutation (Sincerely, for example) and then space down leaving room for a signature and end with your name
