  1. Find and correctly cite seven academic sources relevant to your topic
    • Academic sources are reliable and trustworthy sources
      • Books, academic journal articles, government reports, legitimate websites
    • If you aren’t sure what an academic source is, please watch this video:
    • Need correct citations for all seven of your academic sources
      • Chicago style
    • Need useful and relevant sources (don’t pick anything!)
    • Submitted on Canvas
  1. Write a short biography of your person/topic
    • 500-750 words
    • Focus on the significance and importance of your person/topic
    • Don’t cut and paste – use your own words
    • Chicago Style citations required
      • At least 5 footnotes and bibliography
    • Submitted on Canvas
    • One biography for all three people.
  1. Prepare a PowerPoint Presentation on your topic
    • 7 slides maximum
      • 1 slide – Title of Topic, Names, and Student Numbers
      • 5 slides for information about your topic
      • 1 slide – Conclusion/Summary
    • PowerPoint Tips:
      • Don’t use too much text/writing
      • Lots of images are good
      • Be consistent in your formatting
    • Submitted on Canvas
      • For whole group
    • Pictures need citations. Put in bibliography.
  1. Time Limit – 10 minutes
    • A little over the time limit is OK
    • Going under the time limit is a problem
    • Each person speaks for 2-4 minutes.

8. Present topic to the class

    • Brief biography
    • Focus on Impact and Significance of Person – why are they important?
    • Brief video clips are ok (30 seconds or less)
    • All group members must speak
    • Each student will be graded separately for their presentation delivery
    • Don’t read the presentation
    • A few notes in your hand is OK
