Communicating effectively in writing depends on skills that can be developed by employing well known practical methods that work together to produce a composition to achieve specific goals. We don’t always write the same way, but we do each have a “process” for our writing. Following the steps of a writing process can help a writer save time by employing a systematic approach to writing goals.
Although this is an overview of the writing process, following these steps in conjunction with a clear idea of what you are trying to achieve (topic and main idea/thesis or claim) and for whom (audience) and how (tone) can apply to any writing project in any course once you have the steps mastered.
