- Talk with an APRN who is employed in your area of practice. Determine the following:
- Are the APRNs unit based? If so, what is the method of patient care delivery on the unit, that is, primary care, team nursing, PFC?
- What are the advantages and disadvantages to the APRN role related to each and the different delivery methods?
- Do the APRNs have staff or line authority? What are the advantages and disadvantages to the role of each type of authority?
- Administratively, do the APRNs report to a senior or middle-level managers?
- Do any of the APRNs work in a shared governance environment?
