The truth is that while nurses carry out health policies day in and day out very seldom are they involved in the process of informing policy and that needs to change. Historically nurses in direct care have been the champions of the needs and rights of their patients, however, the master’s prepared nurse can influence policy by conducting quality improvement projects within their practice settings and implementing new policies.
