The woman portrayed in Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa may be Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo, the wife of a local businessman, and the painting has long been known in Italy as La Gioconda. Does it help your personal sense of participation to know who the subject of the painting is, or to know that Leonardo kept this painting with him throughout his life and took it wherever he went? Using some of the concepts we’ve studied, why or why not? (50 word minimum)
