08 Aug You can write the poem on any topic of your choosing
This week you read William Butler Yeats’s “When You Are Old.” For this week’s writing assignment, you will write your own poem styled after Yeats’s “When You Are Old”; then, you will write a short analysis of your poem. You will need to incorporate at least two examples of imagery (literal or symbolic) and use Yeats’s rhyme scheme – ABBA, CDDC, EFFE. You can write the poem on any topic of your choosing, or you can decide to write your poem to a former love, as Yeats does. Once you have completed your poem, offer an analysis of your poem, showing your uses of imagery and rhyme. You also need to explain the themes within your poem. The total word count of your response needs to be 400 words, which will include the poem and the analysis.
