12 Aug Book review
Begin by thinking of a population you wish you could volunteer with. Examples could be young children, families dealing with poverty, substance abuse populations, mental health populations, elderly populations, homeless populations, etc. There is no wrong choice, I want you to pick something that you will enjoy. Instead of working in agencies that serve these people, I will allow you to do readings and watch movies/videos that focus on the population you choose. I will give you 15 hours for any movie you watch and write a brief paper about. I will give you 20 hours for any book you read and write a short paper on. The paper only needs to be 2-3 pages. To get full credit, I really want your paper to be a critical reflection/analysis. Do not spend more than and paragraph on the book or movie plot. I want to know things like: what did you learn, what did you disagree with, how does this help you understand your target population more, what did you like, what did you not like, etc. Basically, a critical analysis on a movie (or movies) or a book (or books) that somehow relate to the population you would have been involved with had this “health crisis” not occurred. There are thousands of movies and books you could choose from. No, I do not need to approve your book or movie, I trust your judgement and want you to pick things you will enjoy and learn from! I’m trying to help you succeed at all costs. You can do as many movies or books as you need or want, yes you can do a movie and a book, actually doing some of each is probably the best choice..
