For this assignment, you will need to find two articles addressing how QI processes were used to
address a clinical issue/concept (e.g. falls) and two articles each addressing the use of a different
specific patient population measurement tool to measure a clinical concept (e.g. Morse fall
scale).
Select two nursing research or QI articles reporting the use of two different specific patient
population measurement tools.
1. Select two different measurement tools that seek to measure the concept developed during
your concept analysis discussion board assignment.
2. Complete the Measurement Tool Matrix. After your matrix table is completed, please consider
which measurement tool is most suitable for a potential DNP inquiry project focusing on your
concept.
Create a power point presentation with either a video component or voice over on each slide
highlighting your findings and analysis of the different QI processes/tools and measurement tools
(8-10 slides) * mention which tool you you prefer!

particularly valuable)
c. Search for summary articles describing, comparing, contrasting and evaluating the
instruments used to measure a given concept
d. Search journals, such as the Journal of Nursing Measurement, that are devoted specifically
to measurement
e. Examine computer-based and print indices, and compendia of instruments developed by
nursing and other disciplines
f. Examine copies of published proceedings and abstracts from relevant scientific meetings
g. It is also helpful to consult colleagues who are currently conducting related research and are abreast of the most recent literature
You will need to submit the Measurement Matrix along with your narrated power point
presentation. You will also post your power point presentation to a discussion board for
peer viewing and feedback.
