12 Aug Describe how employee job attitude serves as a link between reward systems and employee job behaviour
Learning Goal: I’m working on a business question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.
Review the case involving Multi Products Corporation, which can be found in the Appendix at the back of your textbook:
- Long, R. J. (2014) Strategic compensation in Canada (5th ed.). Toronto, ON: Nelson Education.
In Part A of your essay, respond to the following question:
- What intrinsic and extrinsic elements might you implement to retain and motivate the 600 employees?
PART B:
Multi Products Corporation has decided to create an incentive to reward their new sales associates and to increase sales. After each sales associate achieves over $100,000 in orders from various retailers, they receive a 2% wage incentive.
While initially very motivating, it had an unintended consequence. Employees working in production and finishing became resentful and were distracted by what they felt was an unfair compensation practice.
In Part B of your essay, respond to the following questions:
- Describe how employee job attitude serves as a link between reward systems and employee job behaviour.
- When reviewing reinforcement theory and expectancy theories of motivation, which connects more directly to this scenario
