12 Aug Dressing with one hand:
One side weakness is common to many of the conditions we are covering this semester.
For this
assignment you will practice getting dressed with 1 hand, and handwriting with your non-
dominant hand. Tip sheets and worksheets are provided in your ecourseware.
Dressing with one hand:
– Set a timer and record how long it takes you to get completely dressed, including
undergarments and shoes and socks.
– Now time yourself getting dressed again, including undergarments and shoes and socks,
HOWEVER you will only be permitted to use your dominant hand. Your non-dominant
hand may not be used at all, even for support.
– Answer the following questions:
– What were your general thoughts and feelings about this task?
– How long did it take you to dress as you normally would? How long did it take you to
dress using one hand?
– What challenges did you notice?
– Did you make any different wardrobe decisions when you limited your mobility?
– What devices or tips could have been used to make the process easier or faster?
– What does the increased dressing time tell you about activities of daily living for
individuals with limited mobility and use of limbs?
– Submit to the dropbox as a word document by March 31, 11:59 PM
Handwriting Assignment
– Using the worksheets provided in ecourseware, trace the components.
– Using the worksheet provided in ecourse ware, time yourself filling out the panagrams
with your dominant hand and record. Then time yourself filling out the same panagrams
with your non-dominant hand and record.
– Write a brief paragraph that includes how long it took to perform the exercises, and
include your general thoughts, feelings and challenges. What is the biggest takeaway
from the handwriting exercises?
– Submit your paragraph in a word document to the dropbox and submit your completed
worksheets to the dropbox.
Must be submitted to the dropbox by March 31, 11:59 PM
Please submit BOTH parts to this dropbox. DO NOT FORGET TO SUBMIT COMPLETED HANDWRITING WORKSHEETS. If worksheets are not included you will not receive full credit.
