Apply knowledge of the known risks of disease causing microorganisms and infection when reprocessing reusable devices. For each type of microbe (bacteria, viruses, fungi and prions) apply knowledge by identifying:
• how resistant to reprocessing it is, why there is this level of resistance,and
• one example of a resulting disease or infection if the microbe is not removed during the reprocessing of reusable devices. The range of information demonstrates
knowledge of known risks of disease-causing microorganisms and infection when
reprocessing reusable devices.
