17 Aug Identify about three types of assessments specific to each component.
One of the course objectives is to define Reading and explain the process of Reading and Reading skill development. The course textbook discusses explicitly on the research building blocks for teaching children to read. Each chapter focuses on the different five components of reading and other essential literacy skills (Emergent Literacy, Phonemic Awareness, Phonics Instruction, Word Recognition, Fluency, Vocabulary, Comprehension, Study Skills). Consequently, you will create a multimedia presentation (PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.) of your choice. Focus on the major theoretical, conceptual, and evidence-based components of reading (e.g., concepts of print, phonological awareness, phonics, word recognition, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension) development throughout the grades and its relationship with other aspects of literacy. Discuss specific ideas or concepts that you think every teacher must know based on national standards.
Identify about three types of assessments specific to each component. Provide specific instructional recommendations and strategies for each of the components.
