Read poems that explore the human relationship with the natural world. From Wordsworth’s romantic “nature poem” to more experimental engagements with the world, poets define, challenge, and propose new ways of inhabiting the earth and coexisting with others.
Pick two of the assigned poems from this week and answer the following:
Do your poems suggest the human is part of nature or somehow separate from it? Explain your answer.
How do your poems manipulate language (via literary devices, figurative language, double meanings, form, etc.) to help the reader imagine the natural world in unusual or surprising ways?
Think about the years your poems were published (based on dates provided in your textbook). Hypothesize about how the time and place the poem was written informs the views on nature and/or humanity
