Pilot 1 and 2 plan to meet at the world's largest rock. Pilot 2 has  to fly 19 miles at a 45 degree angle. Pilot 1 has to fly at a 100 degree  angle to get to the rock. How far is pilot one from the rock and how  far is it between the two pilots' starting points?

I will be using the law of sine to  solve this problem. The law of sine states that Sin A/a = Sin B/b = Sin  C/c, so 100/19 = 45/b = 35/c.

so first we will separate this into two separate problems:  and

To solve the first problem you will cross multiply and get

next you will divide each side by 100 to get the final answer of b=8.55 miles.

To solve the next we will do the exact same thing. First we cross multiply to get

next we divide each side by 100 to get the final answer of c=6.65  miles. So pilot 1 will need to fly 8.55 miles to get to the rock and the  distance between both pilots' starting points was 6.65 miles.
