Based on your reading of Chapter 1 (pages 1-22) in Saleebey’s The Strengths Perspective in Social Work Practice (available on Blackboard), class discussions, and your experiences, write a 2-to-3-page paper that addresses the following areas:
1. Summarize your understanding of the strength’s perspective (1 to 11/2/pages).
2. Discuss how you think the strengths perspective detracts or contributes to anti-oppressive social work practice. (1/2 to 1 page).
3. Identify and discuss two of your strengths and/or the strengths within your family and/or community, and how you think they may contribute to your preparation as a social worker. Make sure you address how you know their strengths and how you think they developed. (1 page).
As with all written assignments, it must be typed with a cover page stating the name of the assignment and your name. The body of the paper should be double-spaced, with one-inch margins and 12-point font. References should be done using APA 6th ed. style and please take special care to proofread and check spelling and grammar, as you should treat the assignment as a professional communication.
