Autonomy, beneficence, nonmaleficence, and justice – are inseparable and core to nursing practice. Respect for persons ‘autonomy is accepting a person’s right to make choice in deciding his/her treatment as per their personal values and preferences. Justice ensures all are equal before us – not depend on whether they are poor, marginalized, white or black, or their ethnicity. Nonmaleficence is doing no harm to our patients and family intentionally. And finally, beneficence – do good to contribute to their welfare.
