In the reading assignments so far, our beliefs about the existence of the external world have been called into doubt. Choose one of the following two questions and write 100-200 words in response.
1. What evidence do we have that the external world really exists? In other words, what evidence do we have that everything around us is not merely a dream or some other kind of illusion? Based on this evidence, how certain can we be that the external world actually exists?
2. Does it matter if everything we experience is really just some kind of illusion imposed on us by a malicious demon or a computer simulation like the Matrix? Why or why not?
