Creative Adaptation: Choose a well-known children’s story or fable (such as “The Little Engine that Could” or “Goldilocks and the Three Bears”) and imagine if two of the fiction authors we read in Week One rewrote it. For example, you may render “Snow White” first in the elaborate style of Faulkner and then in the form of Kinkaid’s “Girl.” In your rewrites, showcase the idiosyncratic themes and style of each author. Each rewrite should be about 1-2 pages long.
Also create a brief preface (about 2 pages) to your rewrites in which you explain what children’s story you picked and what stylistic and thematic qualities of each writer you are attempting to adapt or satirize. In your description of stylistic and thematic qualities, you brought out in your rewrites, incorporate at least three literary terms.
