The instructions
The initial 3-page description of your research plan should reflect several weeks of research. Note that this submission should be single-spaced, typed, with a #12 font.
The research plan should include the following:
A title representing your topic.
A half page introduction that names and briefly describes the issue/topic that will be investigated, and justifies why that particular issue/topic was chosen. You will cite at least one article that was published in a peer-reviewed journal.
Literature review (One paragraph per person. This part will be graded individually). Each group member will review at least one article published in a peer-reviewed journal and summarize the article. Discuss how each article is related to your interview question(s). You are encouraged to choose articles that present qualitative research.
A half-page method description. It will describe the methods for selecting six (or eight if your group consists of four researchers) different types of non-pregnant adults (18 years or older). Participants will be purposively sought out for their input about the food and nutrition issue (selected because of their specific food experiences, gender, major, background, etc), justifying why those types of participants were chosen as sources of information about the issue/topic.
References. It is important the references include the author, title, journal title, volume, number, and page numbers. Use the APA format. Here are useful links:

A one-page interview guide. You need to include a consent statement at the beginning of the interview (see the interview guide example). The interview guide will include only broad open-ended questions that will shape the interview, remind the interviewers to cover important topics, and provide space taking notes during the interview. Each group member will be in charge of developing two questions. Include your name in parenthesis at the end of your question. All questions will be open-ended and designed to elicit long responses from the persons being interviewed, and include additional probes that encourage the interviewees to explain their responses further. The questions should be broadly spaced on the page to provide room for note taking. The guides should avoid asking too many questions, providing general questions that encourage the informants to do the talking about the essential concepts that will be examined. These research plans will be reviewed by the instructor and returned with comments to incorporate into a revised proposal and interview guide before doing the actual interviews.
