Do not underestimate the strength and depth of this piece. I have always been amazed by this speech. Even though it sounds like a traditional politically motivated campaign speech, it is anything but that. I have always noticed how the speech neither makes any campaign promises, nor spells out in detail what specific changes need to be made. It also speaks from and to the sentiments of the audience rather than the intent of the speaker. Rather, the power of the speech is in the idea of change, itself, a message that appeals directly to  Americans.
