We learned from Chapter 1 in the Gluck, Mercado, and Myers (2020) text about the early theories about learning, such as associationism (creating links in memory between events that are formed) and conditioning (pairing of stimuli and/or responses). However, these are not just conceptual; "William James (1890) proposed that the links created….are actual physical properties of brains" (Gluck et al., 2020, p. 102). Chapter 2 goes on to explain the neuroscience foundations of learning and memory.

After reviewing Chapter 2, select 1 brain structure or a process that occurs in the brain related to learning and/or memory. Explain to the class what the function of that structure or process is and how it is related to learning or memory. What might happen if there was a disruption to this structure or process?
