Next, you will review specific sections of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule with a focus on the six categories of the HIPAA Permitted Uses and Disclosures.
You will then summarize the selected code, regulation, or standard and compare/contrast it to a specific HIPAA Permitted Use and Disclosure category to assess whether it supports or negates the intended impact. Finally, you will synthesize your arguments to propose a specific best practice, policy, or procedure that would apply in the HIM setting or that would be applicable for the HIM professional.
