19 Feb Signature Project Stage 1 – Research Proposal Topic
1. Problem statement: Divorce is problematic for families and its rise is experienced in all countries. The USA has the highest frequency of divorce. The problem is that socio-economical change is leading to a divorce rate rise. The social factors include affairs, and interference of family members while economic factors include earning differences and unemployment.
2. Best practice used to address your problem: The best practice to reduce the divorce rate is economic support programs launched by the government as they would provide financial support, job opportunities and career advancement. The next best practice would be compulsory counseling for every couple. The constant counseling will reduce pressure on couples.
3. Hypothesis: There would be 4 hypotheses in this study. The first will be the rise in the divorce rate is directly linked to the affairs of men or women. The second hypothesis will be divorce rate is linked to the interference of people. The third hypothesis is unemployment leads to a divorce rate rise. The fourth hypothesis is earning difference leads to divorce among couples.
4. Study Population: The study population will be people from the 18-65 years age group.
5a. Independent Variable: The independent variables include affairs of men or women, interference of people, unemployment status and earning differences
5b. Dependent Variable: The dependent variable would be the divorce rate.
6. Brief plan of action for executing your experimental quantitative design:
First, I will be identifying and recruiting participants aged 18-65 years as they would be recruited from different social media groups. Their signed consent will be required as they will be ensured that their information will remain confidential. They will be ensured that they can leave this study whenever they want to leave. A questionnaire of 25 questions will be used to gather the information that is hypothesized. Inclusion criteria will be the participant’s age should be 18-65 and should be divorced at least once and did not receive any counseling. Next, variables will be measured. This will be accomplished using statistical methods, such as regression analysis to determine the strength and significance between the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. Last, I will analyse the results to identify which factors have the most significant impact on divorce rates.
