Motivational theories

Select two of the following motivational theories:

X and Y Theory of Motivation
Hierarchy of Needs
Motivation-Hygiene (Two-Factor) Theory
Theory of Need
Self-Determination Theory
Goal-Setting Theory
Expectancy Theory
Equity Theory

Complete the following:

Explain the elements of the two motivational theories selected.
Establish a connection between the two motivational theories selected and the leadership theories selected in the previous unit.
Elaborate on how the connection can inform real-world solutions and how this research can enhance leadership and leadership decisions.

Critically evaluate the sources used in the review that address your selected leadership theories. Briefly explain how you evaluated your sources for credibility such as the credentials of the researchers, the evidence of peer reviews, and the fidelity of the research-design principles. Explain how each source is valuable to the study of leadership.

Your completed literature review must be a minimum of three pages in length. Include an introduction, and utilize at least three outside sources from the databases located in the CSU Online Library. You may use the same resources as Unit III, but this is not a requirement.

Ensure your sources are high quality, such as peer-reviewed articles and empirical studies (quantitative and qualitative), published within the last 5 years.

Apply level 1 and 2 headings. Adhere to APA Style when constructing this assignment, including in-text citations and references for all sources that are used. Please note that no abstract is needed.

Aspiring Doctors, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving this week!

In Unit IV we will be exploring followers from a leader’s perspective. How does a leader get more out of followers (motivation) and how can their satisfaction and engagement be increased? Chapters 9 & 10 in text + study guide.

Keep an eye out for something in Chapter 9 that I think many of us in this class have in common. On pp. 326 of the text the authors introduce “achievement orientation” and later “grit” on pp. 331. As a group of professionals seeking a Doctorate, I am confident many of you, like me, reflect this orientation and it may be worth some time examining it a bit.

Another assignment is due this unit – you will be taking the two leadership theories you examined in Unit III and connecting them to two motivation theories you will select from a list (you will see my favorite – Herzberg’s two factor). You will leverage high quality sources (as defined in the prompt) to help in your analysis. Again, please read all components of the assignment carefully as there are several of them.
