Develop a stakeholder register and portions of a work breakdown structure (WBS)

Project managers may use a variety of documents throughout the project lifecycle, such as the project scope, stakeholder matrix, project plan, schedules, and final reports. In this course, you will bring everything together, including the detailed knowledge gained throughout the program, to create your own set of project documents.

This week, you will develop a stakeholder register and portions of a work breakdown structure (WBS). The WBS is typically a large document that divides projects into manageable sections. It results from a clearly defined scope document and provides a detailed picture of all the components required to deliver a project.

This part of the plan eventually aligns each package of related work items to the necessary time, financial, and human resources. The WBS can be created in text or graphic form, using a Word document, spreadsheet, or project management software, as part of the PMI project management lifecycle.

While the entire document is important to projects, this assessment will focus on specific sections within the initiation and planning phases of the PMI process groups.

Assessment Preparation
Consider this scenario. Please note that the scenario will be revisited and further developed in subsequent assignments throughout the course. Each assignment will build on the previous one, adding new elements and complexities to the scenario.

template.

Remember that the WBS is comprised of deliverables, WHAT is to be delivered, not tasks that describe HOW deliverables are to be accomplished. Be sure to read the Burek article before beginning this assignment.

Tasks are not identified until we transition from the WBS to the detailed Project plan and schedule in Part 3 of the template.
