Using the thesis statement of why social media is harmful to children under the age 16 and the sources from your Annotated Bibliography (also on the subject of social media usage in children), you will create a 2-page “Letter to the Editor” to persuade the target audience of your point of view(that heavy usage of social media in children and adolescents is harmful). Complete the steps below:
1. Draft Your Letter
a. Write a persuasive letter addressed to a clearly defined audience.
b. Use the rhetorical situation and strategies appropriate for this audience.
c. Support your argument with at least three credible sources.
d. Address one likely counterargument within your letter.
2. Test Your Letter with AI as Audience
a. With an AI platform, ask it to take on the role of your target audience. Then, share your letter with the AI.
b. Ask the AI to evaluate your letter from that perspective:
i. Was it convincing?
ii. What parts were strong?
iii. Where are there weaknesses or holes in the argument?
3. Revise and Reflect
a. Revise your letter using the AI’s feedback to strengthen your argument.
b. Write a 1–2 paragraph reflection explaining:
i. How effective was AI as a tool for testing your argument?
ii. How might you use AI to support your writing process in the future?
