28 May Clinical Assessment and Suicide Risk Evaluation
Integration with Module 1: In the Quiz: Case Presentation: Selecting Your Client Using AI (Microsoft Copilot), you practiced using AI as a clinical tool for creativity—not as a replacement for clinical judgment. Continue to view AI as a starting point for case conceptualization. Now, deepen your clinical reasoning by demonstrating:
· Independent synthesis of assessment data
· Diagnostic justification rooted in DSM-5-TR criteria
· Culturally responsive conceptualization
Additionally, in the Quiz: Case Presentation: Selecting Your Client Using AI (Microsoft Copilot), you created three potential client cases using Microsoft Copilot and were approved for one case to develop throughout this course. In this module, you will apply your chosen case to demonstrate your growing skills in risk assessment, mental status evaluation, and clinical decision-making.
Module 2 emphasizes the counselor’s role in evaluating suicidality, substance use, and mental status using evidence-based frameworks (Sommers-Flanagan, 2022; SAMHSA, 2020). You will integrate theory, ethical awareness, and practical application to demonstrate diagnostic reasoning and crisis intervention planning to this week’s discussion.SARAH is your client
Using your approved client from the Quiz: Case Presentation: Selecting Your Client Using AI (Microsoft Copilot), please provide the following information about your client in this discussion thread:
1. Risk Assessment Application:
· Conduct a brief suicide and self-harm risk assessment for your client using the SAMHSA SAFE-T model (Steps 1–5).
· Identify the specific risk and protective factors that are evident in your client’s presentation.
· Describe how you would use one or more of the 25 Practical Strategies from the Suicide Crisis Intervention Model to intervene appropriately.
2. Mental Status and Diagnostic Reasoning:
· Summarize your client’s Mental Status Examination (MSE) based on observable data and information from your Copilot case.
· Discuss which aspects of the MSE are most relevant for diagnostic formulation in this case and why.
· Reflect on how cultural, developmental, or contextual factors might influence both your assessment and interpretation of symptoms.
3. Ethical and Multicultural Reflection:
· Considering the client’s background (age, culture, and context), identify two ethical or multicultural considerations that may impact your risk assessment or treatment planning.
· Explain how you would address these considerations in alignment with ACA (2014) ethical standards.
· Include Christian worldview by integrating spiritual and/or religious considerations for client case and having Christian lens
Thread: The student will post one thread

Module/Week. For each thread, students must support their assertions with at least 2 scholarly
citations/sources in current APA format (in-text citations and references). For the Discussion
Thread: Clinical Evaluation and Suicide Risk Evaluation, the thread should include the
textbook and 1 peer-reviewed article within 5 years as their 2 minimum scholarly sources, in
addition to any other resources and scholarly sources the student chooses to incorporate.
