For your final Case Study analysis you can choose between analyzing ethical issues in a film or analyzing the ethicas of the GM government bailout of 2008.
Option A:
Pick a film that has good examples of ethical, moral and legal issues in business and society. (See attached document for some examples) In 1-2 pages, summarize the following:
Introduction-plot summary: not an entire description of the movie-identify the ethical/moral issue(s) that you will examine in this paper. (1-2 paragraphs).
Ethical issue(s) clearly identified-explain them. Write about the stakeholders, the social damage and/or global damage. (1-2 paragraphs).
Apply an ethical framework to the issue(s)-based on utilitarianism, rights, justice, caring, virtue.
Because this is an ethics class-conclude with a value statement. What does the film portray for humanity. What does it teach, motivate, or change in us. A film is an art form so your interpretation and reaction is important.
Length: 2 pages. This is not a film review-I don’t care about the special effects or the entire plot so It is important to prioritize the most important moral/ethical aspects of the story to analyze and illustrate principles of sound ethical reasoning and maturity. What research and evidence do you have to back up your position. Make sure that you cite your sources and provide a works cited page.
Option B:
Think Critically about the GM Bailout
In your view, should the GM bailout have been done? Explain why or why not the bailout was ethical in terms of utilitarianism, justice, rights, and caring?
In your judgment, was it good or bad for the government to take ownership of 61 percent of GM? Explain why or why not in terms of the theories of Lock, Smith, and Marx. What research and evidence do you have to back up your position. Make sure that you cite your sources and provide a works cited page.
