07 Jul amendment addition
In addition to your memo, please remember to respond to at least 2 classmate’s memos. And, please remember to keep the conversation polite, respectful, and helpful.
Remember to use these links to get a better sense of how to write a memo. These should not just be a few sentenced about what you think. There should be a structure and format to your memo. Failure to follow this general format will result in a lower grade.
After discussing how the original constitution failed (the Articles of Confederation), we then discussed how the new one (the one we still have) was formed and the different considerations that went into its framing. We also discussed the various amendments of the constitution (27 in all). Your memo prompt this week is as follows:
Write a memo in which you propose an amendment to add to the Constitution or explain your reasoning for thinking an amendment addition is not necessary. Please explain your amendment and the reason you think it is necessary. Remember, amendments changes our Federal Constitution, they are not simply laws. Your proposal memo should explain what you would like to change about our Constitution, or why you think it should remain unchanged.
