Media plays an important role in the lives of adolescents. The purpose of this assignment is to review and critique a recent movie in terms of theories of adolescent development. Choose from one of the following films regarding adolescence: Mean girls 

For the assignment, you are to focus on the class readings on cognitive theory, social and ecological theory, biological theory, and/or identity development theory, as relevant to your analysis of your chosen film. You can use other class readings as support; however, your analysis should concentrate on the previously mentioned areas. In addition, you will need a minimum of 5 outside sources to support your analysis (e.g., books, book chapters, or journal articles). This assignment should be 6-10 typed pages, double spaced, in Times New Roman, 12-inch font, following APA guidelines. 

 

Your movie review should address the following:

 

      Summary: Provide a brief summary of the movie (1-2 pages only)

 

      Review: Analyze the movie in terms of 4 theories or concepts that we have discussed in class (See above list). You can focus on characters, situations, context, themes, etc. 

 

      Application: (1) Explain why the movie is relevant to adolescent development, (2) Explain how this movie has impacted your understanding of adolescence or your interactions with adolescents, and (3) Describe a psychological, counseling, or classroom implication for the movie. 

 

      Grammar: Clearly written following APA style for writing.

 

      References: Providing appropriate references.
