Topic: Managing Employee Contracts

 

Scenario: 

For most people, the idea of managing employee contracts involves things like pay, benefits, job description, etc., but there is       another dimension to consider. Managers cannot ignore the contract that will exist in the mind of every individual and group        member.

Explore the idea of the psychological contract as compared to the employment contract in general noting how these mix and/or  do not mix in the minds of individuals.

Discuss potential causes for an employees unmet expectations related to the psychological contract and note what employers    can do to rectify the situation with an established employee.

What are the potential implications for a group when an individual perceives a psychological contract violation? 

What can groups do in the socialization process to avoid a future psychological contract violation for individual members?
