What do you view as the most effective aspect of either US or EU current immigration policy? Why do you believe this aspect of policy is effective?
What do you view as the least effective aspect of either US or EU current immigration policy? Why do you believe this aspect of policy is ineffective?
You should answer these questions with an eye to your final Immigration Policy Proposal Project. In other words, this discussion should ideally help you to begin thinking about your final project.

These posts should be SPECIFIC and give details about why a given aspect of policy is effective or not. This post names some policies, but does not give much information about why a given policy is effective or not. These reasons for effectiveness or non-effectiveness should discuss things like 1) How the policy has served/not served to achieve overall immigration goals such as family reunification, labor needs, reducing illegal immigration, fairness, incentivizing desired behavior, etc. 2) How the policy has succeeded/failed due to inability to enforce or lax enforcement, impracticality, changing public opinion, etc. 3) how the policy failed to reconcile competing interests, for example, need for labor and lack of policy accommodating those needs, etc. 4) inability to overcome pull factors, cat and mouse game between enforcers and potential immigrants, etc.
These are not the only ways to critique, these are some examples of how you can think about it. You should develop your own reasoning for the views you state
