Read these two pages of instructions carefully before beginning your paper.  Write a paper 3 to 5 pages in length describing the any organisms listed as threatened or endangered.  Points are not based on length but content clarity, content organization, writing style, and accuracy.  No two students may research the same animal.  When you have decided which organisms to research please post your name and the species to the discussion board in the Endangered Species List.  Priority is given simply to the student who posted first.  I will monitor the Endangered Species board to make sure no duplicates exist.  Students may research aquatic or terrestrial organisms, autotrophic or heterotrophic organisms.  For example, the giant kelp off the coast of California are a threatened autotrophic species.   Cite any sources used, MLA, CSE, etc.Students will not lose points if the citations are not formatted properly but students MUST cite sources. Multiple citation styles exist choose the one with which you are the most comfortable.   Each student will work on this independently.

Include the following topics: 1.   Introduction 

2.   Natural history of the organism including but not limited to the following topics: a.   Habitatb.   Reproduction (life cycle)c.    Nutrition d.   Organisms role in the ecosystem, other information you find interesting

3.   Major factors contributing to extinction

4.   Conservation effortsa.   Describe and discuss any active conservation efforts.  If no efforts are currently underway describe and discuss the future challenges this species faces without these efforts.  Include any potential impact to human populations if known.
