This final paper is a response to the documentary/podcast listed above. The paper must be 2-3 pages, 12 point font, double spaced, Times New Roman. The final paper will be graded based on summarizing, critiquing, reflection, and paper flow.
Introduction:
Introduce the reader (me) to the documentary you saw/ podcast you heard by providing a concise summary.
Provide a thesis statement and communicate to the reader how the response paper will develop (Example: First, this short piece of writing will discuss two major topics that I saw in this documentary/ that I heard while listening to the podcast, which include…Then, I will focus my attention on my personal reaction while viewing the film/ listening to the podcast, as well as providing connections to Professor Acosta’s lecture and class readings…).
Body:
- Discuss the major themes of the documentary/podcast in detail. If there were statistics you found important, let me know what they were. If important ideas/ topics/ controversial statements were mentioned, tell me about them in this paragraph.
- Tell me how you felt after watching the documentary. What were your reactions? Why? Provide justifications for your reactions. Provide quotes/ outside sources, if necessary, or life experiences to explain your reaction to the documentary.
Conclusion:
Provide some concluding remarks. Be sure to restate your thesis and your overall reaction to the documentary. If you have any lingering questions after watching the documentary, this is the place where you ask them.
