This week, we viewed a documentary “Campaign” and discussed the LDP’s divide and conquer multi-member district system elections when two or more LDP candidates fought against each other (“intra-party competition”).
Two strategies of division and coordination within a district we discussed are: (1) the LDP candidates divide a district into geographically designated campaign territories (e.g., one LDP candidate focuses on the west, another focuses on the east) and (2) the LDP candidates develop different policy specializations (e.g., one candidate specializes in manufacturing and another specializes in agriculture).
Now you are the chief campaign strategist for the LDP, which will endorse two candidates for a three-seat multi-member district. Come up with alternative strategies of division and coordination to win both seats. Write around 300 words.
