KSU / CIS CURRICULUM PROPOSAL

PROPOSED IS CURRICULUM FOR KSU

Now that you have critiqued the KSU / CIS curriculum and presented and compared another school’s curriculum, you will develop a proposal for a new IS curriculum for KSU.

Guidelines: what to write about:

Stay within the number of courses the KSU / CIS program currently requires. For each course in your proposed curriculum assume three credits.

Decide what courses should be required and which would be electives.

Do not include current KSU / CIS courses that you believe should be eliminated but identify courses to be removed and explain why you suggest their removal.

Add courses that are not currently in the curriculum, which you believe, should be created and added to the curriculum. Explain why the curriculum would benefit by adding these “new” courses.

Identify content currently in courses that should be upgraded or removed. Be specific and explain why you are making your proposals.

Alter the balance between required and elective courses if you feel that makes sense.

For each course in your new curriculum give:

1.      Title.

2.      Description

3.      Learning objectives

4.      Prerequisites

Justify every point you make. Do not just list courses with the fours points listed above, but explain specifically why you made your decisions.

Sections to include in your paper

Your paper will have these sections:

Summary – maximum of one paragraph highlighting key decisions you make in your proposal.

Course deletions – list of courses you would delete from the current curriculum. Remember to explain your decisions.

Course alterations – list current courses with additions, deletions and updates to course content. Remember to explain your recommendations.

Course additions – list courses to be added and explain your thinking. Define all course content and why it is relevant to the curriculum.

Required / elective courses – list courses in each category. Here is where you list prerequisites too.

How your proposal will be evaluated:

Clarity

Completeness

Quality of your ideas

Thoroughness of your ideas

Organization of content

Free of filler and BS

Free of spelling and grammar errors

Mechanics:

Five pages maximum

Font size 12

Margins (top, bottom, left, right) all 1”

Title on 1st line: “KSU / CIS CURRICULUM PROPOSAL by your-name-here” then one blank line then your proposal

Single space is fine

Must be submitted as Word document
