15 Aug World history movie project
Instructions:
You will need to watch one of the following films:
· Braveheart
· Spartacus
· Alexander
· The Messenger
· Elizabeth
· Gladiator
· Kingdom of Heaven
· The Ten Commandments
· Ashoka the Great
and write a “Fact and Fiction”, three-page, double-spaced paper on it. Do not write a summary of the film. I want you to pick several items in the film that really did happen in history and discuss the accuracy of the movie. Then, I want you to focus on items in the movie that did not happen at all and were pure Hollywood.
Assignment Checklist:
□ Select the movie (see syllabus for list or, if you want to pick a different film – email me first for approval – it needs to take place within the pre-history to 1600 CE time frame of our class)
□ Watch the movie
□Write the introduction to your paper
· Make sure the introduction includes a strong thesis statement
□Identify three items that really happened in history
□Discuss the accuracy of the movie (ie in relation to the three items that really happened)
□Identify three items that did not happen (ie were pure Hollywood)
□Discuss how they were “pure Hollywood”
□Write a conclusion
Before you submit the essay, check the following:
□Is the essay 3-pages?
□Is the essay double-spaced?
□ Does the essay have an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion
□Did you proofread your essay?
If you can answer yes to the questions above, it is time to submit your Movie Project Assignment!
