Final Essay

First, consider this thesis question: Why does the modern world need poetry? Then, write. What is your answer, and how will you prove your argument? In your outline, you gathered your ideas and placed them into a logical order. Now, it’s time to fully flesh out that foundation.

Possible Starting Points:

     Exposing new cultural perspectives

Defining what it means to be human

     Promoting unity/togetherness

     Challenging deeper thought/expanding the mind

General Guidelines:

Your essay should have an introduction, conclusion, and several body paragraphs. Your introduction should end with your thesis statement, which is the compass for your essayit lets the reader know exactly where youre headed and what to expect along the way. This also means your essay should be arguable; you should aim to prove your argument throughout the body of your work. Use scholarly sources to support this argument. Then, in the conclusion, restate your thesis in a new and interesting way, and leave your reader with a thought that packs a punch.
