Interprofessional EHR Proposal Project
Information systems are progressively becoming the standard of care within health care organizations to increase technological advances that can increase patient safety, enhance documentation and systems flow in everyday operations. You may approach this project in a variety of ways. You may chose to implement a new EHR or aspects of any information system within a certain healthcare organization (real or make-believe) or change an EHR within a system to show the reader, what or how you would have rolled out the system differently. In the following assignment, you will:
1. Introduction & Assessment
Assess an information system used in a health care setting. The assessment should include a description of the organization, details about the system users, and an analysis of the information system.
2. Rationale
Conduct a literature review on best practices or why this information system is the best for the climate. Synthesize information from the required textbook and current professional literature to propose changes to or replacement of the present information system.
3. Implications for Practice Change
Describe the benefits of the proposed system, as well as the personnel and equipment requirements and budget estimates. Think patient safety, cost effectiveness, and improved patient outcomes. Will training be involved? If so, who will provide the training, who needs the training and how will it be accomplished?
4. Implementation & Interprofessional Collaboration
Think outside of just the nursing discipline. Describe how this new information system or the creation of a system within the setting can enhance interprofessional use. What players are needed to ensure this implementation is successful? Who else would be invited to the table? How you will implement this new system smoothly? Timeline? How will you keep the project implementation on track?
5. Evaluation & Conclusion
How will you evaluate the project implementation? What data will drive this evaluation? What type of benchmarks can be utilized to determine successful implementation occurred among many disciplines? Provide a summary of your project.
