Use the context of your group topic to discuss how health may be shaped by and partly defined by social context and the policies and interventions that affect its determinants? In the United States, how do you think some of the unique attributes (such as strong individualism, racial and ethnic diversity, unprecedented wealth, limited governmental power, capitalism, and self-governance) we possess inhibit health equity? What are some of the ways that legal doctrines act in ways that make it more difficult for people to meet their full health potential? Would that be different if we implemented a non-market-based health financing system that treated access to healthcare as a human right? How?
