I have chosen thirteen battles or campaigns as especially illustrativeof key developments in the history of warfare, which we willexamine in great depth. To prepare for these discussions, you willwrite ten short (800-1,000 word) papers about some factor thatinfluenced the outcome of the battle or campaign, such as a leader, atechnology, a tactic, a geographical or environmental feature, asocietal factor, etc. You may choose which ten of the thirteen. Youare not required to use sources beyond the assigned course texts, butyou may choose to do so if you so desire. Please note that thesepapers should be analytical (why), NOT narrative (what)
