Completeboth questions 1 & 2
1. First, review the video WilliamBlake’s Printing Process from The British Library (in the link above). Thevideo provides an overview of the process and also offers interestingcommentary on how print and visual come together to create a unified aesthetic.
Then, fromthe Songs of Innocence and of Experience (illustrated) link from The BlakeArchive (found in the link above), choose an illustration that corresponds toone of the poems. Copy and paste the illustration into your response.
How doesthe illustration change the way you view the poem? (Do not use either of the poems you willdiscuss in Question #2.) Please reference the video and be sure to cite it.
2. Read the British Library article”The Romantics” (found in link above). Then from The Songs ofInnocence and Songs of Experience (in attachments), read several poems by Blakeand then choose two of them: one from the Songs of Innocence and a matching onefrom the Songs of Experience. (Note thatBlake has paired a number of the poems with the same or similar titles. You mayalso choose poems that match in subject matter–for example, the subject beingan animal, such as “The Lamb” and “The Tyger.”)
Considerhow the ideas in the two poems compare and contrast and/or interrelate witheach other. What does examining these poems demonstrate about Blake’s ideas?Based on the poems youve read and the British Library article’s definitions ofRomanticism, why do you think Blake is considered the first British Romanticwriter?
