In class, you have studied the ethical dilemmas evoked by the Alice Goffman controversy. In

class, you have also studied theoretical concepts required for “doing ethnographic work” in the

field through Kendall and Ladner’s essays. You will be using some of the questions raised by the

Alice Goffman book “On the run” and some (any 2-3 concepts) of the concepts like Ethnographic

warrant, reflexivity, positivism, objectivism, subjectivism, involvement of the bias of the

ethnographer in the natives’ lives, etc.

With these ideas, you will read and analyze the article on the Yanomami controversy and

critically examine some of the ethical issues and write your reflections on them.

The article for reference and independent reading and analysis is attached in the assignment

mandate.
