31 Aug against school
- In his article, Against School, John Taylor Gatto quotes Woodrow Wilson (28th president of the United States) who, in 1909, said, We want one class of persons to have a liberal education, and we want another class of persons, a very much larger class, of necessity, in every society, to forgo the privileges of a liberal education and fit themselves to perform specific difficult manual tasks. While this statement seems outwardly shocking, there is evidence that this very thing is going on today. Taking Gattos article as a starting point, develop an argument that this, indeed, is happening in classrooms all over America in the present day. You must include at least one other essay from our text in your discussion. Two outside sources, minimum, should also be used to create your argument.
