31 Aug Deviance and Social Control
Write a 1200-1800 word essay addressing each of the following points/questions. Be sure to thoroughly answer all the questions for each bullet point. There should be two sections, one for each bullet below. Separate each section in your paper with a clear heading that allows your professor to know which bullet you are addressing in that section of your paper. Support your ideas with at least three (3) citations in your essay. Make sure to reference the citations using the APA writing style for the essay. Also, include an introduction and conclusion. The cover page and reference page do not count towards the minimum word amount.
- Section One: Select some deviance within society you are personally familiar with (it does not have to be your own – it can be something that someone you know did). Choose one of the three theoretical perspectives to explain what happened.
- Section Two: What do you think should be done about the U.S. crime problem? What sociological theories support your view?
- Section Three: Discuss street crime and imprisonment, the three-strikes law, the decline in violent crime, recidivism, bias in the death penalty, the medicalization of deviance, and the need for a more humane approach.
