31 Aug U.S. Criminal Courts and Social Justice
Part 1 – Your initial post
- Find a news report that is available online (e.g., an online newspaper article, online news video, etc.) and addresses a current issue in relation to the intersection of a social location (e.g., race/ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, ability, etc.) and criminal courts.
- Find two peer-reviewed academic journal articles that address the same intersection of social justice and criminal courts.
- Post the following:
- A summary of the issue(s) raised in your chosen news report;
- A discussion of what your chosen academic articles say about the issue(s) discussed in your chosen news report;
- A discussion of what you believe would need to be done to address the issue(s) raised in your chosen news report within criminal court systems;
- Be sure to address multiple aspects of criminal court systems (e.g., prosecution, defense, judges, juries, defendants, victims, etc.)
- Be sure to offer specific reforms.
- A link to your news report.
- Attach PDF copies of your peer-reviewed academic articles.
