31 Aug Evaluating a Writing Sample
Read the student writing sample that is attached at the bottom of these instructions. Then, using the Six-Trait Writing Rubric, also attached below, evaluate this third-grade student’s ability to write. Circle the blocks on the rubric that you believe correctly reflect the various aspects of the passage. Then, compose a reflection in which you address the following questions:
- Is this student writing on grade level?
- Which writing genre does this passage represent?
- What does the student’s writing tell you about his reading abilities?
- If this student were in your own classroom, what instructional goals and strategies would you use to further his writing development?
