3) The short version: I was a clinical social worker for Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and in private practice in Beverly Hills before joining academia. My clinical specialties were borderline personality disorder / emotion regulation problems and trauma / PTSD treatment. I love clinical work generally and assessment specifically; it is the cornerstone of effective intervention.
