31 Aug Group Therapy , Process, and Practice
This class has now started studying about group therapy, using the textbook “Groups, Process, and Practice”. Each student can choose to write about one of the following topics:
- Chapter 1-The book identifies 4 different types of group therapy. Write a paragraph describing each type of group using examples of the topics or subjects that would be addressed in a substance abuse agency.
- Chapter 2 – Describe 2 skills that group leaders need to acquire that you believe are your strengths and describe 2 skills that group leaders need to acquire that you need to strengthen.
- Chapter 3 – Write 4 paragraphs answering these 4 questions: What measures will you take to ensure confidentiality in your group? How will you deal with the member who breaks confidentiality? Under what circumstances would you feel compelled to break the confidentiality of a client in your counseling group? What ethical issues may arise when working with a group composed of involuntary members.
Application Paper assignments require the student to think about and apply what they have learned and write about it in a meaningful way. These papers must be at least 350 words but cannot exceed 3 pages. These papers can earn up to 9 points. Full credit is earned when the student answers all elements of the assignment completely in a well-written paper.
